"High Speed Train Planned For Merida & Campeche"


Within the next three years, the Merida Real Estate area and the up-and-coming Campeche Real Estate area
will be connected by a high-speed passenger train, making travel convenient for residents from both cities.

There are currently plans underway to build a stronger travel connection between two important areas within the Yucatan Real Estate area;
during the next three years the states of Yucatan and Campeche, together with Mexico's federal government, are planning to build a high-speed
train between the cities of Merida and Campeche. While Merida Real Estate is already more established as a top choice in the area, especially
for those who wish to combine colonial style with easy access to excellent beaches, Campeche Real Estate likewise boasts an attractive colonial city,
and is currently an up-and-coming market. The new connection between the two will provide opportunities for real estate buyers in both cities.

The new high-speed train from Merida to Campeche will be put into operation with a total investment of about $2 billion US. For 2010, the goal is to
have a completed plan and design, and construction of the rail system and trains is scheduled for 2011, with operation contracted for 20 years.
Interest has been shown buy a number of international companies, including one from France and one from Japan. The first trip is currently scheduled
for December 12, 2012, and the train will serve about 8 thousand 300 passengers per day. It will provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd class service.

Merida has been a popular real estate destination for North Americans looking for homes in a colonial city, which includes highly developed
infrastructure and excellent services in terms of health care, stores and activities. The new train will provide an additional transportation option for those wishing to travel to other parts of the peninsula, and enjoy a visit to the unique fortress which comprises the city center of Campeche, originally built to protect the town against pirates coming from the Caribbean Sea.

"Kamnicte, The Mayan Wedding"

People who lived in ancient Mayan times led a very different life from the one we live today. Their whole existence was centered around religion and
ritual, and nothing was carried out if it did not conform to what they saw as celestial plans. While the Mayans did have marriage, the way it was arranged
was very different. Young Mayan bachelors lived not with their families but in the temple, where they received education and helped priests. When they
were ready to be married, they usually approached a "negotiator" who then visited both families and arranged for them to meet.

Even though everyone knew the reason for the encounter, during this meeting nobody talked about a possible marriage. Instead, they spoke of the
harvest, the weather, or of the latest sacrificial ritual. Hot cacao drinks were served as a show of wealth, since it was an expensive product brought
from afar. Finally, the negotiator, who had kept quiet so far, spoke out bringing the topic of marriage. The long negotiations commenced. The groom had
to pay the bride's family for her hand, but the amount depended on the status of both families, setting the stage for drawn out haggling and mutual
boasting of status. The payment was usually met not with money, but with labor. For that reason, the groom had to live with the bride's family for a number
of years to work off the debt. The marriage itself, which took place under good astrological auspices, was a lavish affair, a new part of the house was built
to accommodate the young couple, a priest placed incense in the home and offerings were made for the gods.

The families drank balche, a ceremonial drink made with fermented honey, and ate heartily. The next day, the bride made corn tortillas
as a sign of fertility and the groom got ready for his first day of work for his father in law.

"Mexico Mortgage Loans To Ignite Market"

"Mexico mortgage loans will show solid growth in 2010, according Mexico’s largest bank, Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer. The news fuels
expectations that expanding Mexico mortgage loans will ignite the Mexico real estate market in 2010. Speaking at a press conference last month,
Ignacio Deschamps, Bancomer’s president and chief executive, said “Credit will grow in a dynamic way at Bancomer in 2010 … we will seek
double-digit growth in all of our portfolios”. Deschamps expects Mexico mortgage and small business loans to grow more than 20% in 2010.

Earlier in 2009 the federal government-backed mortgage agency, Infonavit, sold almost $200 million of Mexico mortgage-based securities through
financial markets and a top Citigroup banker said Mexican bank loans will grow at a faster rate than the economy. Mexico mortgage loans at Bancomer expanded 1% to MXN118.41 billion in 2009 and further growth in 2010 will depend to a large degree on a recovery in consumer lending, Deschamps said.
The Mexico mortgage cash will give the already buoyant Mexican property market a significant extra boost, adding to the reasons to invest in Mexico real estate in 2010."

The other method is to have the real estate owned within an IRA. One limitation of this method is that the IRA holder cannot live in the property owned by the IRA. Any proceeds from the property must go back into the IRA. As the real estate market in Mexico recovers, using your IRA to invest in Mexican real estate can be a smart way to diversify your retirement portfolio and grow your real estate holdings."
